Jack Stark: The Journey of a Composer Influenced by Cinema
Born in Geneva in 1987, Jack Stark is a swiss artist where discovered the universal language of music at an early age.
At just four years old he could play popular melodies "by ear" on a small Casio keyboard. This organic relationship with the instrument foreshadowed a career marked by refined, pure sensitivity and emotion.
Training: Rigour in the Service of Sensitivity
His formal instrumental studies began in 1993 under the guidance of Mary‑Claude Huguenin, followed by a theoretical path at the CPMG. Between solfège with Jacqueline Bruyère, jazz improvisation with Erich Lauert, and technical mastery of the great composers (Chopin, Mozart, Liszt, Beethoven), Jack forged a comprehensive artistic profile.
His terminal solfège diploma in 2007 crowned this quest for excellence.
Creation: When Music Becomes an Emotional Landscape
Since 2000 his compositions have revealed a unique signature that blends classical, electronic, and cinematic influences. His first album Nico Inventions, originally intended as personal archives, attracted attention for its visionary covers (Vangelis, James Horner) and original works steeped in the imagination of Eric Lévi.
A versatile artist, Jack Stark continually pushes genre boundaries :
- 2011 : The video Insomnia (choreographed by Melinda Stampfli of the MDC)) marks his turn toward epic music.
- 2012 – The album Xalesis, his first official release, confirms his talent as an orchestrator.
- 2016 – Collaboration with Amélie Daniel on the album C’est comme si explores new artistic synergies.
- 2023 – The album Memories crystallises a mature compositional voice.
- 2025 – The album Gothard is enriched by Max Lilja’s expressive cello on the track Love.
Key Moments
Highlights of his career include :
- 2007 – Composed “Radio CPM,” the official anthem for the CPMG's 75th anniversary.
- 2012 – Arranged music for the Miss Fêtes de Vendanges parade (Neuchâtel).
- 2019 – Immersive experience with the "Catécubaines du Joran".
Artistic Philosophy
Heir to the great film‑score composers, Jack Stark views music as a conduit for pure emotions. Each piece strives to create synesthesia, turning notes into mental images. His work, situated at the crossroads of classical tradition and electronic innovation, continues to evolve toward new sonic horizons.
Jack Stark : “My ambition is for every listening experience to become an intimate journey - a sensory adventure that transcends a mere musical moment.”
